At Plant Street Academy, we've been asking that same question. And the answer is Social Studio, our drop-in program designed to give kids the social and life skills that textbooks can't always teach.
Whether you need flexible childcare for a few days, you're looking to give your homeschooled child more opportunities to socialize and collaborate, or you simply want your child to practice being a confident, capable person in the real world, Social Studio was built for your family.
What Is Social Studio?
Social Studio is Plant Street Academy's flagship drop-in enrichment program. It's a structured, four-hour morning experience where children develop the kind of skills that shape them into confident, compassionate, and capable members of their community.
This isn't a babysitting program. This is intentional, guided learning, built around three core pillars:
How to Communicate
Children practice expressing their thoughts clearly, listening actively, and speaking respectfully, in group settings, one-on-one, and in front of peers.
How to Navigate Conflict
Disagreements are part of life. Social Studio gives kids the tools to work through them, calmly, fairly, and constructively, without adult intervention.
How to Follow Instructions
From listening in a group to completing tasks independently, children practice the kind of focus, accountability, and follow-through that prepares them for school, work, and everyday life.

Drop-In (Single Day): $60.00 No reservation needed. Just show up at 8:30 AM and your child is good to go.

What to Expect When You Arrive
Mornings at Social Studio are intentional, warm, and structured. Here's how a typical session flows:
8:30 AM, doors open. Kids check in, greet their peers, and settle in
Morning block: Facilitated activities focused on communication, teamwork, and problem-solving
Mid-session: Snack break (please pack a nut-free snack for your child)
Second block: Conflict navigation scenarios, collaborative challenges, or community skill-building
12:30 PM, pickup. Your child walks out having practiced something real
No lunch is served, so just toss a snack in the bag. Everything else is handled.
